Hamburg introduces slot booking procedure
With the aim of making more efficient use of terminal capacities, the slot booking procedure was introduced on November 29, 2017 by several container terminals in Hamburg (among others CTA, CTB, CTT, EGH and EKOM).
Since this date, time slots must be booked for every container release and return. The additional costs necessary for booking and monitoring the time slot capacities and any rebookings are now being passed on by many carriers. The prices have so far varied between EUR 25.00 and EUR 40.00 per booking.
Following the slot booking procedure, the container depot Progeco Deutschland GmbH in Hamburg has announced the use of a booking system. As of February 1, 2018, a notification will be required for the release and return of empty containers. For the notification, which must be issued whenever a booking is made on a website, Progeco will as of March 1, 2018 charge a fee of EUR 5.00. We are not yet aware of any additional costs due to the extra administrative work.
